Launch of the Awards Fund
Today we launch the maiden edition of awards for the Fund that bears my undeserving name. This Fund expresses in a small way my strongly held commitment to promoting excellence in education and empowering young people to reach their full potential.

Commitment to Inclusion
The University of Buea strives daily more and more to provide a fair playing field for male and female students, but more especially for leading the way in the higher education sector in the inclusion of Special Needs persons.

Celebrating Gender Diversity
Of the 1,000 recipients, there are 549 women and 451 men. I am extremely pleased to see the greater presence of women on the list of awardees. The diversity showcased truly reflects the progress we have made in promoting equality and empowering women in our cherished university and country.

A Call to Male Students
Let me address the male students: while I salute the distinction of women, this should not discourage our male students. Let this be a call to action—a reminder that excellence knows no gender boundaries.

Discipline is the cornerstone of success. It is the unwavering commitment to your goals and the ability to stay focused even in the face of challenges and distractions. Without discipline, even the most brilliant minds falter.

Matriculation 2022 Ceremony
Mme Kanyi-Tometi’s speech inspired new students to believe in themselves and embrace the opportunities at the university. She emphasized the importance of discipline and community involvement.
Mme. Kanyi-Tometi served as Guest Speaker and inspired freshmen with a call to action: "Don’t be afraid to discover who you are... build meaningful connections... unlock your potential... acquire skills and impact society."
