The Kate Kanyi-Tometi Excellence Fund was instituted by the CEO of TELCAR Cocoa, Kate Kanyi-Tometi, to encourage academic excellence for students of the University of Buea and to support physically challenged and needy students

Support to Students
The Kate Kanyi-Tometi Excellence Fund was instituted by the CEO of TELCAR Cocoa Kate Kanyi-Tometi to encourage academic excellence for students of the University of Buea and to support the physically challenged and needy students.
Partnership
This fund is a collaborative partnership between the Sponsor and the University of Buea. The Fund aims to reward exceptional students who consistently demonstrate outstanding intellect, exemplary personal discipline, and positive contributions to the community. These with a view to empowering them to continue making positive difference in the world
annual allocation
The annual allocation of 50.000.000FCFA (fifty million) is entirely distributed to 1,000 students each year for five years, making a total of 250.000.000FCFA (two hundred and fifty million francs) for five years

Her pride in what the University has become and her expectation of it continually serving as an agent for positive multifaceted change, led her to set up the Kate Kanyi-Tometi Excellence Fund.
Giving Philosophy
The Sponsor approaches giving in this particular context in a way that reflects both her personal lived experiences and her strongly-held values. Beyond empathy and understanding, the Sponsor is driven here in particular by her desire to give-back to the community that afforded her a serene childhood and to do so in a way that encourages excellence. She believes that by providing access and opportunities, she can uplift others and create a ripple effect of positive change in her community
